DAY 35 - ALL NEW DAILY UPDATES ARE AT MY NEW SITE HERE
DAY 34
November 10th, Day 34 - 6:53AM - The Voigtlander 50 1.1 arrives!
Yesterday during my 21st straight hour of slaving away over my mac creating the all new version of this site (NOT on Iweb this time) UPS rang my bell and delivered a lens I have been very excited to try. The poor mans Noctilux! Yep, the Voigtlander 50 1.1! At 1/9th the price of a new Noctilux I wondered if it was going to be any good on the M9. I have only shot about 10 images so far, all in the dark, wide open and at high ISO. My full review will be next week when my all new, highly improved site launches! Until then, here are two or three samples.
ALL of these were taken late night outside. It was DARK out but the lens makes it look like daytime in a couple of these.
ISO 1600, F1.1 - The lens brightened up the scene dramatically as it was DARK outside!

ISO 1250 and 1.1
I only had 30 minutes last night so took about 10 quick and dirty test shots to see how it would do in the dark, wide open. I can not wait to shoot this lens more and will be doing so all week and will be comparing it with my 50 Lux pre-asph. Stay tuned!
DAY 32
November 8th, Day 32, 5:04 PM - Just a couple snaps from my backyard.
I am awaiting delivery of a 50 Nokton 1.1 and a Zeiss 25 ZM this week so until then I have been getting some work done around the house and I have only shot the M9 for a few frames today out in the back. I attached my 50 Lux pre-asph and snapped a shot of a tree that I liked. The light was good and the M9 can pump out some nice JPEGS if you have great light.
Shot wide open at 1.4, JPEG, vignetting added.
I also shot this just to see how the pre-asph would do sharpness wise on the ladybug. Wow..again, I am floored by the sharpness of this lens. This was shot wide open at 1.4 with the old PRE-ASPH! Click it to see the larger version and full size crop to see what I mean.
Now, again, I am not a sharpness freak but I was impressed by this and I know MANY of you who are reading this ARE sharpness freaks! In any case, I always heard the 50 Pre was soft wide open, had soft corners even stopped down and was not a lens to use for detail. HOGWASH man! I saved $1800 over buying a new ASPH version, and I got a coded black paint version that focuses to .7 meters and has a built in hood with knurled focus ring.
I can highly recommend this lens! Will the Voigtlander Nokton 1.1 win me over? It may, but I know it will not render like my 50 Lux. Tomorrow I will have the Nokton, so I will post a shot or two here in the afternoon sometime.
DAY 30
November 6th, Day 30 - 7:22AM - Out of camera JPEG color quality.
Have not updated in a few days due to some difficulties with Iweb, which is what I use to make this site. I am in the process of switching over to Dreamweaver so the headaches should end soon. Yesterday I snapped a shot in good light of my dog in JPG mode. I was surprised at the great out of camera color from the file.
Another straight from cam JPEG. This has not been processed!
Also, I took one more shot of this spooky cabin in the woods. This one is with the 50 Lux Pre at F4. This one has had some vignette added, so is not a OOC shot.
I am hoping to have my 35 Summicron lens review up TODAY and I am excited because I should have the Voigtlander 50 1.1 in hand by Monday! I can not wait to try this “poor mans Noctilux” on the M9.
DAY 26
November 2nd, Day 26 - 6:34 PM - Two pics from yesterday.
35 Cron
50 Lux pre-asph 1.4 - I love the way this lens renders an image at 1.4.
DAY 25
November 1st, Day 25 - 6:02 PM - More M9!
I can not seem to keep away from this M9 Blog! Anyway, was shooting the old, unsharp, un-contrasty, pre-aspherical 50 Summilux today at F4 and thought I would post this image with crops. Click on it to see the crops full size as you should see them.
I am finding the pre-asph Lux to be a FANTASTIC lens and it can be found a couple of thousand cheaper than the ASPH version. But I do recommend the last version of the pre-asph as it focuses down to .7 meters like the new ASPH version. On the M9 it is FANTASTIC and can deliver smooth and creamy files when shot at F1.4 or F2, or sharp, detailed files from F4-F8!
DAY 24
October 31st, Day 24 - 9:11 PM - Happy Halloween!
Few shots from today with the 35 and 50.
GHOST HOUSE 3 - M9 AND 35 SUMMICRON AT F2
M9 AND 50 SUMMILUX PRE-ASPH AT 1.4 - ISO 640

BTW, the shot below was at ISO 2000 and 1/15th of a second with the 50 Lux at 1.4.
Man, who said that 50 Pre-Asph is not sharp wide open? Look at that 2nd shot at ISO 640 and 1.4. Sharp!!! How about a 100% crop:

Also, this was taken in low light conditions. Love the M9 more every day! Also, I am going to keep this M9 blog/diary going with 1-2 posts per week until the end of the year. By then, many more of you should have your own M9’s (well, those who pre-ordered). So be sure and check back here every week for more! Also, I have a 35 Summicron review on the way as well as the Voigtlander Nokton 1.1 lens review on the M9. Leica X1 review in November/December!
DAY 23
October 30th, Day 23 - 1:09 PM - One from yesterday.
I was busy yesterday changing this web sites color theme to white/grey and did not get a chance to post here. But here are two shots from yesterday. 35 Cron for both. I should be able to update with more later!
You want to see the POWER of the M9 sensor? Click Here to see the image above with a 100% crop. WOW!
